Part 1 (Flowers): Edison Ford Winter Estates

Today I visited the 1885 Edison and Ford Winter Estates to photograph flowers — and as always, it was an amazing stroll through incredible beauty and history.

A National Register Historic Site, the Estates include the winter homes, gardens, museum and laboratory of friends Thomas A. Edison and Henry Ford — set on sprawling acres overlooking the beautiful Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Gardens feature 1,700 plants representing more than 400 species from six continents. Tonight I’m posting some of the photographs I took — be sure to check back tomorrow for others including non-flower photos.

This landmark has been a cherished part of my community for a very long time, and if you live in or visit Southwest Florida, you should check it out. It’s remarkable!
