Old Florida But Still Bringing Us Shrimp!

This morning I grabbed my camera and headed out to an authentic part of Old Florida that still operates today — the shrimp boats at Fort Myers Beach.

Our shrimp caught in the Gulf of Mexico are delicious and are called “pink gold” because of their vivid pink coloring. They’re so tasty and one of my favorite foods!

While this old shrimp packing house closed some years back (I remember it open when I was younger), the shrimp boats still line up on the wooden docks to travel out into the Gulf.

There’s one thing about it — shrimp may be as traditional a meal as comes in our part of Florida, but I never get tired of it or fail to appreciate the shrimpers who bring it in to our tables!
