Let’s face it – some days we don’t eat as healthy as we should, but when we eat blueberries and blackberries we get both a delicious treat as well as major health benefits. Who would have guessed something this tasty could be this good for you!
Berries are packed with vitamins, flavonoids, nutrients, and antioxidants, making them outstanding agents for helping to prevent inflammation; cognitive aging/decline; cancer; diabetes; heart disease; high blood pressure; bad cholesterol; infections; and other diseases. (Wow … that’s quite a list!)
And blueberries and blackberries are so delicious!
They run the gamut when it comes to recipes. Blueberries and blackberries are great eaten fresh and raw from your hand, but also delicious cooked in a variety of dishes for breakfast, dinner, supper, and dessert.
Previously I blogged about The Versatile Blueberry and included lots of my photographs. I especially enjoy baking blueberry brioche bread with them, but they’re equally tasty on top of steaming oatmeal in a little puddle of cream, or in a sweet and savory salsa served on baked redfish or grouper.
And as with this picture, I always enjoy styling a scene to photograph them!
Strawberries and cranberries also fall into this category of being extremely delicious and healthy, but for today’s post it’s all about the blue and the black when it comes to our berries.
How do you like eating these pretty little morsels of tasty good health?
